Review by hotel critic
Nestled in vibrant Ipanema, Hostel New Ipanema truly impressed me with its strategic location just a stone's throw from the iconic beach. The secure private village setting attracted a diverse group of international travelers, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.I opted for a double room featuring a cozy terrace where I enjoyed my morning coffee, soaking in the lively neighborhood vibe. The hostel's staff were not only friendly and spoke English fluently but went above and beyond with their recommendations for local events and activities, enriching my stay with authentic Carioca experiences. The well-maintained housekeeping ensured a clean and tidy space, while the shared kitchen allowed for socializing and exchanging stories with fellow guests. With a 24-hour front desk and tours/ticket assistance, everything from airport transfers to exploring the city was seamlessly arranged, making my trip stress-free and enjoyable.Being an anthropologist, I found Hostel New Ipanema to be a cultural hub, reflecting the spirit of Rio's Afro-Brazilian heritage through its diverse clientele and vibrant atmosphere. Whether you seek a relaxing beach retreat or a lively exploration of local culture, this hostel is a hidden gem where every corner tells a story of Brazil's rich tapestry. My stay here was a delightful blend of comfort, culture, and community, leaving me longing for my next visit to this enchanting Rio retreat.
